Anlässlich des von der UNO ausgerufenen Jahr des Berges 2002 veranstalteten die Seilbahnen Österreich ein Fest der Berge. So wurden zur selben Zeit überall sogenannte "Sonnwendfeuer" entfacht. Die Berge glühten. Zahlreiche Wanderer, Biker und Partyfreaks fanden den Weg auf den Pfänder, um den längsten Tag des Jahres zu feiern.
